J&K Olympic Assn presents S Rangil Singh Sports awards
Jammu, March 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association on Tuesday presented Sardar Rangil Singh Award for Sports Excellence 2019-20 at Amar Singh Club here. The awards were presented under the affiliation of Indian Olympic Association and affiliation of International Olympic Committee. Mayor Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Brigadier Anil Gupta, Member Administration J&K Cricket Association, Ashok Khajuria Former Legislator and Olympian Paramjeet Singh were the special guests on the occasion. As many as 14 Players, nine coaches and a journalist were conferred upon S Rangil Singh Award for Sports Excellence 2019-20, a cash prize of 21000/-, a memento, certificate, Olympic Cap and Olympic Necktie by the dignitaries.
Honorary Secretary General, J&K Olympic Association, Dushyant Sharma in his welcome address congratulated the awardees and ensured such promotional events for the welfare of sports. President, J&K Olympic Association, Prof. Dr Ashutosh Sharma and Vice-President Indian Olympic Association explained the functions and achievements of J&K Olympic Association formed in 1972 with S Rangil Singh as President and Sharma as General Secretary.
The S Rangil Singh Award for Sports Excellence was instituted after his demise, who remained president of J&K Olympic Association from 1972 till 2017. The awardees included in players category as Rakesh Kumar Para-Olympic Archer, Ram Singh, Mountaineer, Radhey Kumar, International Athlete, Rajesh Anand, International Roller Skating, Abdul Samad International Cricketer, Mohd Shafi Nari, Football player, Arushi Kotwal, Chess, Adil Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Kayaking and Canoeing, Mohd. Tariq, Fencing, Suvidha Sarin, Roll Ball, Tejpal Kour, Gymnastics, Abhinav Kunda, Athletics, Iqbal Singh, Basketball and Gourav Sharma, Handball. Sanjeev Sharma was awarded in the Sports Journalist category. In coaches category, Bhupinder Singh Tirthi, Kho-Kho, Kuldeep Kumar Vedwan, Archery, Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Athletics, Om Prakash, Wrestling, Rajesh Virdhy, Shooting, Rachna Jamwal, Fencing, Anil Gupta, Yoga, Suraj Bhan Singh, Judo, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Hockey.
