Have To Take India Forward From Where Virat Left: Rohit

Ahmedabad, Feb 5 (UNI) India white-ball captain Rohit Sharma on Saturday said that he just have to take the team forward from where Virat Kohli left. Rohit replaced Virat as the new white-ball skipper in 2021. Virat had stepped down from T20I captaincy role and then he was removed as ODI captain. “When Virat was the captain, I was the vice-captain.

I just have to take it from where he left. Everybody knows what is expected out of them, we want to continue with the same template,” said Rohit during a virtual press conference. “There is not much we need to change. It is just that adaptability and being open to different things is what we have spoken of. It is not like I have to come in and change things drastically.”

When asked about the possibility of him getting Test captaincy, Rohit simply said, “There’s time for that”. “My focus is on limited overs cricket. Workload management is important. We could lose a few series because we need to keep changing players, but we’re ready for that.” India will take on West Indies in the three-match ODI series at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The first game will take place on February 6, followed by second and third on February 9 and 11 respectively. Teams will then travel to Kolkata for the three T20Is, which will be played on February 16, 18 and 20 at the Eden Gardens.
