Patna, Jan 22 : Concerned with casualty allegedly in hooch tragedy, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP – Chirag faction) president Chirag Paswan on Saturday demanded imposition of President’s rule in Bihar.
Paswan through his letter to Governor Phagun Chauhan drew the latter’s attention towards hooch tragedy and demanded his immediate intervention to check such incidents.
Paswan told newsmen that casualty was increasing in hooch tragedies and only President’s rule could save the lives of people of Bihar where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had promulgated total prohibition.
He said even after blanket ban on the liquor in the state, hooch tragedies have become common and that toll due to consumption of spurious liquor was rising.
In Saran district more than five people died after consuming spurious liquor on Thursday and casualty was continuously increasing, he alleged and said several others were still undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Paswan said more than 11 people also lost their lives last week due to hooch in Nalanda, the home district of the Chief Minister.
Taking potshot at Nitish Kumar for failing to control hooch tragedy in the state, Paswan alleged that Kumar was raising issues of Pegasus, caste based census and population control bill with an intention to become a prime contender for the Prime Minister’s post from the opposition faction.
Speaking about the long drawn political tussle between the constituent units of National Democratic Alliance ( NDA) in Bihar, Paswan claimed that the continuous rifts were openly indicating that Bihar was heading towards mid term poll.
