2 SP MLCs Join BJP In UP
Lucknow, Jan 16: The ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh received a shot in its arm when several political leaders of other parties, including two MLCs of Samajwadi Party, joined them on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, former Kanpur Commissioner of Police Asim Arun had joined the saffron party after taking VRS.
Those who joined BJP on Sunday included SP MLCs Ghanshyam Lodhi and Shailendra Pratap Singh, along with former IAS and BSP leader Ram Bahadur.
Ram had contested the last Assembly polls on a BSP ticket.
BJP State President Swatantra Dev, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Daya Shankar Singh were present during the joining of new leaders.
Along with them, former MLA Shikohabad Om Prakash and former District Panchayat President of Firozabad Vijay Pratap Singh Chhotu also took membership of BJP.
