Central Team Reaches Security Breach Site
New Delhi/Chandigarh, Jan 7: A committee formed by the Union Home Ministry to investigate the security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Punjab on Friday visited the spot where Modi’s motorcade got stuck.
The Home Ministry on Thursday set up a committee to probe the security breach. It will submit its report at the earliest.
The three-member committee is led by Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat. The other members are Balbir Singh, Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau, and S. Suresh, Inspector General, Special Protection Group (SPG).
The Chief Secretary of Punjab sent a report on the incident to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Friday morning.
PM Modi could not attend a rally in Ferozepur in Punjab on Wednesday after his motorcade got stuck on a flyover for around 20 minutes due to a roadblock by protesters. The incident took place around 30 km from the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala.
A Punjab government probe will give its report in three days.
