Bhubaneswar: Amid surge in Covid-19 cases in Odisha, health services director Bijay Mohapatra on Wednesday informed that efforts are being made to break the Covid transmission chain in the state.
The transmission of the infection are rising in the neighbourhood states. The positive rate has gone past 1 per cent. Delhi saw a rise from 1 per cent to 3 per cent and a similar situation can arise in Odisha. Efforts are on to break the infection chain. The focus is on testing, tracking and vaccination.
Odisha is also likely to witness the surge in number of cases. Currently, the transmission rate is high. So it cannot be ruled out that Odisha wont see a situation like Delhi is facing right now due to the new variant Omicron which is more infectious, informs Mohapatra.
Following CM Naveen Patnaik direction, the hospitals are fully ready to fight against the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. The health department is all prepared to expand the oxygen and medicine facilities in all the hospitals, says Health director.
Now the emphasis is being given to testing, tracking and vaccination. Around 60,000-70,000 tests are being conducted every day,Currently, community transmission is underway, said State Health Director Bijay Mohapatra.
People should be aware and take responsibility to strictly follow the pandemic guidelines to keep them and others safe from the infection,” said Mohapatra.
The hospital infra have been strengthened and adequate number of beds have been arranged in the government and private hospitals, as it was done during second wave of Covid-19. ” he added.
