Bharatpur Army Major Row: The CCTV Has Been Installed Today

Bhubaneswar: The CCTV has been installed in Bharatpur police station on Tuesday amid all these disputes. According to the information, there are 25 CCTVs installed, 16 have been installed initially. The Commissionerate Police has come to the fore in the incident of ill-treatment, beating and torture of army major and his fiancé in Bharatpur police station.

The Supreme Court has ordered that all police stations must have CCTV. It was informed that a new building of Bharatpur police station was constructed and CCTV was installed at the cost of crores of rupees. After this incident on the 14th of Saturday late night, the Crime Branch said that there was no CCTV camera in the police station. There was concern over the lack of CCTV in Bharatpur police station.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi late on Sunday ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident of torture of Major and his constable in Bharatpur police station. A notification has been released by the Home Department on Monday. The notice mentions that a judicial inquiry will be conducted under the chairmanship of Justice Chittaranjan Das.

The notification has given information about conducting the investigation on three main aspects. How and under what circumstances this incident happened. What was the whole incident? Under what circumstances the major and his fiancé were abused and beaten up in Bharatpur police station. All these incidents will be investigated.

Similarly, the incident of 7 accused who allegedly misbehaved the victim, in Chandaka police station area will also be investigated. Whose role was in this incident and who is responsible for it, the concerned persons, groups and authorities will be brought under the ambit of investigation.

It will be investigated whether it has any link with any other incident. If there is anything else related to the incident, the commission can investigate it. It is advised that such incidents do not recur in future. The notification also provides advice on the safety and security of women. It has been directed to investigate and submit the report within 60 days of publication of the notification.
