Gajapati: A shocking double death has taken place in Gajapati district of Odisha. The incident was reported from Tuguru village under R.Udayagiri police limits on Wednesday. It is suspected that both were brutally killed on Tuesday night. While one of the bodies was recovered inside the hut another body was found at a distance, sources said.
According to the sources, the couple has been identified as Chaitanya Mandal and Urjani Mandal. They had climbed up a hill to reach the hut and had slept there. It has been said that they were allegedly attacked by a group of people on the hill top.
It is suspected that the couple has been killed over some past rivalry. As per reports, Chaitanya used to treat diseases using herbs and other articles. The locals suspected it to be some ‘witchcraft’. However, the exact reason why the couple has been killed is yet to be ascertained.
R.Udayagiri police reached the spot along with the scientific team and found their body from separate locations. The body of the husband was found 50 meters away from the hut, whereas the body of the woman was found inside the hut. It is worth mentioning how and why and when the murder took place is yet to be ascertained. The police investigation is underway in this regard.
