Weather Update: Light Rain Expected in Parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a midday bulletin predicting changes in the weather pattern across Odisha in the coming days. According to the forecast, several places in the state are expected to experience light rain or thundershowers due to the impact of western disturbances.

Additionally, dense fog has been reported at one or two places in Koraput, adding to the atmospheric variations observed in the region.

Over the last 24 hours, there has been a notable decrease in minimum temperatures across various districts of Odisha. North interior Odisha, north coastal Odisha, and south interior Odisha have all witnessed a decline in minimum temperatures, with Jharsuguda recording the lowest minimum temperature at 9.1°C and Paralakhemundi registering the highest maximum temperature at 34.8°C in the plains of Odisha.

Here is the weather forecast and warning for the upcoming days in Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.02.2024):

  • Light rain is expected in one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput, while dry weather will prevail over the rest of the districts.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 11.02.2024):

  • Dry weather is likely to continue across all districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.02.2024):

  • Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are anticipated in one or two places over several districts including Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, and others. Dry weather is expected in the remaining districts.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 13.02.2024):

  • Light rain is forecasted in one or two places over districts like Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal, while dry conditions will prevail elsewhere.

Days 5 to 7:

  • Dry weather is anticipated to persist across all districts of Odisha during these days, with the possibility of light rain in specific areas such as Sundargarh, Deogarh, and others.
