Bhubaneswar: Amidst a growing wave of concerns over the JN.1 sub-variant of COVID-19, Odisha has reported another positive case in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active patients in the state to three. As of Tuesday, sources indicate that the health condition of all three patients remains stable, and they are currently undergoing treatment.
The first case of COVID-19 in Odisha was detected on December 3, followed by another positive case on December 19, according to sources. The latest case underscores the continued vigilance required to curb the spread of the virus, especially in the wake of emerging variants.
The fresh cases in Odisha coincide with a broader surge in sub-variant JN.1 cases reported in various parts of the country. In the last 24 hours, 628 new COVID-19 cases were reported across different states, pushing the total number of patients in the country beyond 4000. Unfortunately, one person has reportedly succumbed to the virus in Kerala on Monday.
To address the evolving situation, the Odisha government has issued an advisory, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures. The Health and Family Welfare department has specifically recommended the use of facemasks for several categories of people when venturing outdoors. Elderly individuals and those with underlying health conditions have been advised to wear facemasks and to avoid crowded places, as announced by the department through its official channels, including social media.
As the country grapples with the increasing instances of the JN.1 variant of COVID-19, concerns are mounting over a potential spike in cases. The Health department’s proactive advisory serves as a timely reminder for citizens to adhere to safety protocols, including mask-wearing and social distancing, to mitigate the risk of further transmission.
