Odisha: PET teacher dies, 20 students injured as bus overturns
Bhubaneswar, Sep 27: In a shocking incident a teacher died and 20 students were injured, three of them critically when the bus in which they were travelling overturned at Chandahandi Ghati in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Wednesday.
Police identified the deceased as P Jena , the Physical Education Teacher (PET) of Swami Vivekananda High School, Umerkote.
As per the reports around 30 students of various schools along with their teachers were on their way to participate in a district level sport event at Chandahandi when the mishap occurred.
The accident occurred after the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a steep curve on the Ghat.
The local people rescued the accident victims and rushed them to Jharigaon Community Health Centre.
Senior police officers like DIG, Nabarangpur SP, Umerkote SDPO have reached the spot and are supervising the rescue operation.
