New Delhi, July 13: A Delhi court on Thursday convicted seven person including former Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda and Ex-Coal Secretary H.C.Gupta in a case related to irregularities in the allocation of a coal block in Chhattisgarh.
CBI Special Judge Sanjay Bansal after hearing arguments passed a conviction order against H.C. Gupta, Vijay Darda, Darda’s son Devender Darda, two public servants K S Kropha and K C Samria, M/s JLD Yavatmal Energy Private Limited and its Director Manoj Kumar Jayaswal.
The Special Court at Rouse Avenue, New Delhi held all the accused guilty under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and section 420 (cheating) defined under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and various provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Special Judge adjourned the matter for July, 18 for hearing the arguments on the quantum of sentence.
The CBI court refused to accept the closure report of CBI in November, 2014 and directed the agency to conduct further probe in the matter.
