Mumbai, Jun 25 : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday claimed that the ruling Shinde-Fadnavis government in Maharashtra is very corrupt and appealed to public to overthrow it and bring Congress to power.
Addressing farmers and the party workers in Sangli on the sidelines of the Mahanirdhar 2024 meeting, he blamed BJP for trying to disrupt social harmony by creating discord in society based on caste and religion, as a result, the common people are fed up.
He further charged that BJP means corruption and corruption means BJP.
In Karnataka, no work was done without paying 40 per cent commission, he alleged and said that the people of Karnataka defeated to the corrupt BJP government.
“In Karnataka, BJP did not come to power with the blessings of people, but by buying the MLAs. BJP established power by showing the lure of crores of rupees. Congress brought BJP’s corruption to every household in Karnataka and made the state BJP-free,” he said.
Siddaramaiah further said that social reformers like Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar gave direction to the country.
“Without B R Ambedkar’s Constitution, the downtrodden, oppressed, underprivileged would not have come into the mainstream, they would not have got equal rights. But the casteist BJP government is talking about changing the Constitution itself,” he noted.
“Hindutvawadi leaders like M S Golwalkar, Veer Savarkar had opposed the Constitution ever since it came into existence and even now people of this thought are opposing it,” he further alleged.
He asked party workers to be prepared to make sacrifices for the protection of the Constitution.
“We will survive only if the Constitution remains,” he added.
