Road mishap in Balangir; 5 killed, 2 critical
Balangir: Five persons, including two children, lost their lives when the car they were travelling by rammed into the rear of a stationary truck near Madhiapali Square on Sambalpur-Bolangir National Highway No. 26 in Odisha’s Bolangir district at around 11.00 pm on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Atmaj, Ipsita, Srinika Simantini, Diptiranjan, and Riya of Balangir. While the injured were identified as Rashmita and Aarti Naik.
According to reports, the accident took place when the seven were returning home in Bolangir after attending a marriage party in Duduka village in Agalpur block. The locals rescued them and immediately rushed all of them to the hospital. However, the doctor declared five of them brought dead. The other two injured are in critical condition.
On being informed, police reached the hospital and started to probe into the matter.
