Over 35 villagers fell sick after consuming funeral feast and drinking water from a local well here at Sanindipur village under Koida block panchayat in Sundergarh district on Wednesday.
According to reports, most of the affected are suffering from diarrhea after eating a feast in the village’s Dasha Karma. Following this, all the affected people were sent to Koida Group health center for treatment.
Although the organisers of the dasa bhoji claimed that the water of the well was boiled to cleanse it of impurities before serving it to the people, it is believed that people fell ill after drinking the water from the well.
Meanwhile, a team reached the village to collect water samples to ascertain the exact reason behind the illness of such a large number.
