Odisha tops the list of large states in fiscal performances: Naveen
Bhubaneswar, April 28: Odisha now tops the list of large states in fiscal performances, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said.
Addressing the General body meeting of the Odisha Finance Service Association here, Patnaik
said the state’s own tax revenue collection has increased substantially and the state’s own revenue constitutes 60 per cent of the total revenue receipts of the state.
The Chief Minister said the state achieved the success due to fiscal discipline, effective mobilisation of resources and formulation of public policies ensuring proper use of the resources.
He said the hosting of the World Cup hockey twice in a row, effective management of the pandemic, and the success of the third edition of the Make in Odisha conclave have beckoned the rise of a new Odisha.
The state’s dependance on central transfers has reduced and it now stands at 40 percent of the state’s total revenue receipts,Patnaik said.
The Chief Minister claimed that the Integrated Financial Management System is now a model for other states to develop their own treasury management system and attributed the credit to the contribution of Odisha Finance Service .
Patnaik said in such a context the public financial management encompassing a gamut of activities like strategic budgeting, effective administration of GST and IFMS enabling in time funding system assumes greater significance in achieving the dream of a prosperous Odisha.
He asked the officers of the Odisha Finance Service to take the challenge and work with dedication and commitment in building a new and empowered Odisha.
