Nor’wester Impact To Last For 4-5 Days; Orange Warning For Odisha: IMD
Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange warning for thunder, rain, and lightning in several districts of Odisha for the next three days.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south Odisha and north coastal Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts of the state.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for thunderstorms with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hail storm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul and Boudh districts on Tuesday.
A yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nuapada districts has also been issued. A thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha on Wednesday.
The weather office further warned that a cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level under the influence of low-level prevailing moist easterly from the Bay of Bengal and middle and upper tropospheric westerly trough an increase of thunderstorm activity very likely over districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days. Scattered to a fairly widespread thunderstorm with rain, lightning, isolated hail, and gusty surface wind speed is very likely in some districts of the state.
