Athamallik: Yesterday’s raid, today’s arrest. Athamallik Assistant Executive Engineer Ramachandra Satapathy has been arrested on charges of accumulating assets beyond his income. Yesterday, the vigilance raided the residence and office of Ramachandra Satapathy. Raids were conducted at 8 places simultaneously. The vigilance team arrested him today. He will be forwarded today to the Court. Based on searches conducted on properties of Rama Chandra Satpathy, Asst. Executive Engineer (AEE), Athamallick Block, Dist-Angul, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 1 double storeyed building, 22 high value plots, gold ornaments approx 350 gms, deposits over Rs.1.16 crore, cash Rs.23.95 lakhs (from son-in-law’s house) etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily.
