Recently, the mega auction of IPL 2025 was organized in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia in which a lot of money was showered on the players. After the IPL auction, now Women’s Premier League i.e. WPL 2025 is going to be organized. WPL auction will be held in Bengaluru on 15th December, before which a big news is coming out. This news is related to Gujarat Giants. Actually, Gujarat Giants is going to lose its stalwart. This legend is none other than former Indian captain Mithali Raj. Ahead of the 2025 Women’s Premier League, Mithali Raj and Gujarat Giants have decided to part ways by mutual consent.
Mithali, who has worked as a mentor and advisor to the Gujarat franchise, recently took up a new assignment with the Andhra Cricket Association. This is the reason why Mandhana has taken a big decision to separate from Gujarat. Cricbuzz has made this big disclosure in one of its reports.
Mithali will take up a new role
Mithali was initially contracted by the franchise for three years, but the partnership ended after just two seasons, with the Giants finishing at the bottom. Meanwhile, Giants’ bowling coach Nusheen Al Khadeer, who was on a two-year contract with the franchise, has also decided not to extend her contract with the franchise. She is currently working as the coach of India Under-19 women’s team. It is expected that Gujarat will soon announce the replacement of Mithali Raj. However, in the meantime, head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson are expected to continue in their respective roles.
So many players will be bid in the auction
It is noteworthy that the list of players for the WPL 2025 auction has been announced. 120 players have been shortlisted for WPL 2025 which includes 91 Indians and 29 foreign players. There are also 3 players from associate countries. According to the WPL 2025 auction list, 120 players will be in the fray for 19 slots, out of which five slots are reserved for foreign players.
