What Result Could be Brought After Changing Name of schemes initiated by BJD Govt.

Bhubaneswar: Many things have changed after election 2024. The govt., the color and the name of the schemes in Odisha as well. Before the BJP ruling period, the previous government of Naveen Pattnaik had initiated various developmental schemes like LAccMi Bus, Mo Bus, Mo college, Ahar Kendra,  Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna (BSKY), Biju Patnaik Sports Award, Mo Odisha Naveen Odisha and so on. But now some names of the schemes have changed during the presentation of the State Budget 2024-25. But according to some intellectuals this name changing scenario may come at a game changing scenario and cost to the Mohan Majhi government.

According to some economists and intellectuals focusing on the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) the financial outlay associated with re-branding of BSKY as Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) alone could cost more than Rs 500 crore. It holds a strong reason for the huge cost. Because the Naveen Pattnaik government had already invested a lot of funding in branding the scheme. The preparation of health cards and all the things included in the process of popularizing BSKY almost cost Rs 300 cr. Now this will need Rs 200 cr to rebrand BSKY as GJAY.

Apart from BSKY, economists assumed other such schemes may cost approximately more than Rs 1,000 cr. Renaming of other schemes has led to disruption of ongoing administrative processes as it necessitates redesign of all related materials including official documents, digital platforms, communication materials and other rebranding procedures. With this additional work it may cause confusion and hamper the essential service.

While the ruling party made a console statement to make up the question raised by economists and opposition as well.
