Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Announces Salary Hike and Benefits for Outsourcing Employees

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at improving the welfare of outsourcing employees in various state government departments, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled a series of measures, including a substantial hike in their monthly salary. The announcement, made on Thursday, marks a pivotal moment for these workers who play a crucial role in supporting government operations across the state.

Under the new directives, outsourcing employees will see a notable 25% increase in their monthly salary, a development that promises to alleviate financial burdens and improve their quality of life. Furthermore, the chief minister introduced experience-based remuneration, ensuring that employees are duly recognized and rewarded for their years of service.

Recognizing the unique needs of women in the workforce, Naveen Patnaik also announced maternity leave benefits of up to 120 days for female outsourcing employees, providing essential support during the crucial period surrounding childbirth.

These decisions come on the heels of recommendations put forth by 5T chairman Karthik Pandian, who engaged with outsourcing employees during his recent visits to different regions of the state. The measures aim to address key concerns raised by workers and enhance their overall working conditions.

In addition to salary increments and maternity leave provisions, the chief minister outlined a comprehensive set of benefits and support mechanisms for outsourcing employees:

  1. Timely Salary Disbursement: Patnaik assured that employees would receive their salaries punctually at the end of each month, ensuring financial stability and security.
  2. Establishment of Odisha State Outsourcing Employees Ombudsman: This initiative aims to provide a dedicated platform for resolving disputes between outsourcing employees and service provider agencies, fostering a more equitable and transparent work environment.
  3. Experience-Based Compensation: Employees will now receive additional compensation of over Rs 1,000 per month for every five years of experience, acknowledging their valuable contributions and dedication to public service.
  4. Appointment of Nodal Officers: Each department will designate nodal officers tasked with addressing the grievances and concerns of outsourcing employees, facilitating smoother communication and resolution of issues.
  5. Development of Software Application: A user-friendly software application will be developed to streamline the submission of complaints and grievances by both employees and service provider agencies, enhancing efficiency and accountability in the process.

Importantly, existing outsourcing employees already benefiting from increased wages will be safeguarded under the new framework, ensuring continuity and stability during the transition period.
