2023 Hockey World Cup: India’s group stage Reaches in Rourkela

Hockey World Cup 2023 is being played in India. From January 13, a match will be played between 16 teams in Odisha to win the World Cup. With this World Cup, India will become the only country in the world to have hosted the biggest hockey tournament twice in a row.

The arrival of India’s group-stage rivals Spain and Wales in Rourkela on Sunday energised the city’s atmosphere ahead of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela. Both teams reached Rourkela from Bhubaneswar through charter flights.

England Men’s Hockey team, Netherland Men’s Hockey team and Chile Men’s Hockey team will land in Rourkela ahead of their opening matches in tournament.

All the match tickets in Rourkela are sold out. When asked if the massive crowd at the stadium will affect his team’s focus during match days, Spain’s coach said: “I think it will be challenging for all to compete in Rourkela. Because of the pandemic, we have forgotten how to play in front of big crowds. But we are not going to focus on that too much. We will focus on ourselves.”
