Locals Rescue 50 Passengers Stranded in Odisha’s Mahanadi River

Kendrapada: In a commendable display of swift action, locals in Odisha’s Kendrapada district averted a major tragedy by rescuing around 50 passengers stranded in the Mahanadi river. The incident occurred on Tuesday when a boat carrying over 50 passengers got stuck in the middle of the river due to a technical glitch, leaving the passengers stranded for three hours.

The passengers had boarded the boat from the Bahakuda-Musadiha ferry ghat, and the vessel was en route to Paradip when the engine encountered a technical snag. Local fishermen and other individuals acted promptly upon receiving the information, successfully bringing the boat to the shore and ensuring the safe rescue of all passengers.

The stranded individuals, who also had motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, and other articles aboard the boat, faced a harrowing time during the three-hour ordeal. The incident underscores the importance of community cooperation in times of crisis and the role of quick responses in preventing potential disasters.
