Election Symbol Released For Odisha Panchayat Polls

Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: The Odisha Election Commission issued symbols that will be used by the candidates in the upcoming three-tier Panchayat polls in 2022 on Thursday.

Reportedly, the election symbols have been released for the posts of Zilla Parishad Member, Samiti Member, Sarpanch and Ward Member.

The State Election Commission has issued as many as 19 symbols for the use in the election of members of Zilla Parishad. The symbols include cot, boy & girl, bucket, letter box, drum, jug ring and saw.

Similarly, the symbols that have been listed for use in the election of the Samiti by the candidates include kettle, stool, bus, lock and key, spectacles, hand fan.

The Commission has also issued 26 additional symbols each for election to the office of Sarpanch and office of Ward Member. The symbols for office of Sarpanch include banyan tree, motor car, lantern, brinjal, basket, candles, etc.

Meanwhile, Odisha Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi has said that the preparations for the panchayat elections are nearing completion. The candidates will be assigned with the symbols according to Odia alphabetical order during the election.

The Election Commission has also issued strict guidelines for the prevailing Covid situation in the State. The Election Commission will also impose special restrictions according to the Covid situation in the State during Panchayat election.
