IIIT Bhubaneswar and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Forge Partnership for Research and Education
Bhubaneswar: The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The MoU, signed on Tuesday, aims to establish a robust nexus to drive growth and mutual development through research initiatives in Standardisation, Conformity Assessment, and Quality Processes.
The collaboration between IIIT Bhubaneswar and BIS is poised to introduce new research initiatives in the specified areas, emphasizing the importance of standardization and quality processes. The partnership seeks to create avenues for short-term education programs, enhance infrastructure, and improve laboratory facilities to facilitate broader research, teaching, and education related to standardization.
During the signing ceremony, Professor Ashish Ghosh, Director of IIIT Bhubaneswar, and A. K. Purohit, Director of the Bhubaneswar branch, were present. Dibyendu Chakrabarty, Scientist-G & Deputy Director General of the Eastern Region at BIS, joined the ceremony online. Chakrabarty underscored the growing need for such collaborations to generate awareness and interest in standardization-related topics. He also referenced previous successful collaborations with IIIT Roorkee and IIIT Kharagpur.
Professor Ghosh emphasized the fresh perspectives that young students bring to research areas, contributing to the knowledge production process. The partnership between IIIT Bhubaneswar and BIS is expected to yield fruitful outcomes, promoting excellence in research, education, and industry practices.
