Election Commission Announces Schedule for Rajya Sabha Elections Including Three Seats from Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notification on Thursday for the upcoming elections to the 56 Rajya Sabha seats, which includes three seats from Odisha. Scheduled for February 27, the elections will see candidates vying for these coveted positions.

As per the notification, aspiring candidates can file their nomination papers from February 8 to 15. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 16, with the names of valid candidates being published on the same day. The deadline for the withdrawal of nominations is February 20.

Voting for all the 56 seats will be conducted on February 27 between 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, followed by the counting of the ballot from 5.00 pm onwards.

Of particular significance is the election for three Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha, currently held by prominent figures including Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Prasant Nanda, and Amar Patnaik. Their terms are set to conclude on April 3, 2024.

As the electoral process unfolds, stakeholders and citizens alike await the outcome of these crucial elections, which will shape the composition of the Rajya Sabha and have far-reaching implications for the legislative landscape of the country.
