Baramunda Bus Terminal in Odisha to be Named After Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Bhubaneswar: In a gesture paying homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution and champion of social justice, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the newly constructed Baramunda Bus Terminal in Odisha will be named after Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The terminal will now be known as Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bus Terminal.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, while honoring the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, described him as a visionary leader and dedicated social reformer. Recognizing Dr. Ambedkar’s role as a beacon of hope for the marginalized sections of society, Patnaik highlighted the leader’s lifelong commitment to building a just society.

As part of this tribute, a special 900 square feet gallery dedicated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar will be constructed within the bus terminal. This gallery aims to educate the public about Dr. Ambedkar’s significant contributions and ideals in nation-building, utilizing digital technology to beautifully present his biography and principles. The gallery will also showcase a copy of the Indian Constitution, along with various articles used by Baba Saheb.

The Baramunda Bus Terminal, situated on a sprawling 15.5-acre land, is poised to become a vital transportation hub catering to around 30,000 passengers daily. In line with this, the facility has been designed to offer various amenities to enhance passenger convenience, with a specific focus on ensuring their safety.
