Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Announces Ex-Gratia after Tragic Road Accident in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of a tragic multiple-vehicle collision at Borigumma in Odisha’s Koraput district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep sorrow over the loss of three lives and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister also directed immediate and proper medical treatment for the injured, extending his heartfelt wishes for their swift recovery.

The unfortunate incident occurred around 2.30 pm near Bijapur Square under Borigumma police limits. The collision involved an SUV with Chhattisgarh registration colliding with a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction. The impact led to a subsequent collision with an auto-rickshaw, carrying 15 passengers, before hitting a second motorcycle.

Tragically, the collision claimed the lives of two auto-rickshaw passengers and a motorcyclist. The injured individuals were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, with those in critical condition later being transferred to SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput for further medical attention.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik not only announced the ex-gratia relief for the families of the deceased but also emphasized the need for immediate and appropriate medical care for the injured victims. The Chief Minister’s compassionate response underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting the affected families during this difficult time.
