26 States’ Names Were Not Taken In 2009-10 Budget By UPA Govt: FM Sitaraman

New Delhi: The Finance Minister has targeted the opposition on budget allegations raised by congress, which has now turned into an accusation and counter accusation situation. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman replied to the opposition. She said the opposition is misleading people on the issue of central budget. The BJP is creating a false impression that it has only come up with a budget to please its allies and JD(U) in Bihar and TDP in Andhra Pradesh.

In the budget discussion in the Lok Sabha, Sitaraman said, not only the name of a state is not taken, but it does not get anything in the budget. Giving an example of the budget presentation during the UPA government, she said, 26 states’ names were not taken during the 2009-10 budget presentation. Even in the 2004-05 budget speech, the names of 17 states were not taken. All these states did not get any money? If they have stopped the money then they can raise this issue.

Nirmala said, in the budget of 2005-06 the name of 18 states was not taken and in 2007-08 the name of 16 states was not taken. Even in the full term budget 2009-10, the names of 20 states were not taken. Nirmala responded to the opposition on the issue of employment. She said, only 2 crore jobs were created during the UPA government. But 12 crore employment opportunities have been created in 10 years of the NDA government. The opponents are politically firing their words by putting the gun on farmer’s shoulder. Congress is only crying crocodile’s cry for farmers. Similarly, Nirmala also targeted the Congress and the opposition on the issue of inflation.
