Bhubaneswar: The amount of rain will increase again in the state from today. Heavy rain will occur at many places in interior and south Odisha including coastal Odisha. Yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Bargarh and Jharsuguda in 24 hours.
The Regional Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert to 17 districts due to heavy rain. Especially Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Devgarh, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput and Rayagada districts have been warned. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rains have been issued to 4 districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh.
In these 4 districts, there is a possibility of rainfall ranging from 70 to 200 mm. In addition, a yellow alert has been issued to 17 districts due to heavy rain. Rain will continue till the 9th. Monsoon low pressure is active across the state. In addition, there is a possibility of a cyclone forming in the North West Bay of Bengal. As a result, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains in the state for the next 7 days. Especially, there will be heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of the north and coasts for the next 4 days, said the Meteorological Department.
