Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a four-day visit to Odisha, where she will engage in a series of events spanning multiple districts of the state. Scheduled to commence on February 28, 2024, her visit promises to be a significant affair, marked by various inaugurations, foundation stone layings, and interactions with local communities.
The President’s itinerary kicks off with her arrival at Khiching in her home district of Mayurbhanj at 2:20 pm on Wednesday. This auspicious beginning will see her offering prayers at the revered Maa Kichakeswari Temple, followed by the laying of the foundation stone for a Central Government Holiday Home in her hometown of Rairangpur. Additionally, President Murmu will virtually inaugurate several road projects, a sports complex, and the Eklavya Model Residential School in Barsahi.
Moving forward, on February 29, the President will dedicate her time to Keonjhar district, where she will partake in two major programs. Notably, she is slated to address the convocation of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar in the evening. Prior engagements include interactions with members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups at Gonasika village and inaugurating a national seminar on the tribes of Keonjhar.
The eventful visit continues on March 1, as President Murmu graces the 25th convocation of Berhampur University in Bhanja Bihar. Later in Cuttack, she will mark the golden jubilee celebration of Brahma Kumaris, Odisha, and witness a presentation of PM JANMAN by the Government of Odisha at Raj Bhavan, Bhubaneswar.
Concluding her tour on March 2, the President will pay homage to Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi in Sambalpur district and engage with followers of the Mahima Cult at the Mini Stadium.
In preparation for the President’s visit, Chief Secretary P K Jena has directed all district collectors and superintendents of police to ensure seamless arrangements for her tour.
President Murmu’s visit to Odisha promises to be a momentous occasion, fostering community engagement, cultural exchange, and developmental initiatives across various districts of the state.
