Odisha Braces for Thunderstorms Following 3 days Heatwave Warning
Feature: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in Odisha on April 7-8, following three days of heatwave conditions.
The midday bulletin indicates a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next three days, with subsequent temperature decreases of 2-4°C in many areas. Twin cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may experience temperatures soaring up to 40°C, while Malkangiri, Boudh, Balangir, Titlagarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda may see temperatures reaching 43°C.

Heatwave warnings have been issued for several districts, while warmer nights are expected in others. Precautionary measures are advised for outdoor activities between 11 am and 3 pm.
Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are predicted in various districts, with a forecast for light to moderate rain across the state over the next five days, followed by dry weather from April 10.
