Bootleg Liquor Factory Will Be Destroyed By Bulldozers: Excise Minister

Chikiti: Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has taken a strict stance on the sale of stolen liquor. The minister said, wherever it is found that there is a stolen liquor, it will be destroyed by bulldozers. He said, Now a crackdown is being carried out across the state, and 117 people have already been arrested. Berhampur excise superintendent has been transferred while two excise workers have been suspended in Ganjam Chikti incident.

Along with this, the minister said, all the persons involved in such cases will be found out and strict punishment will be given as per the law. The minister directed the departmental officials to take all necessary steps to completely stop illegal and bootleg liquor trade.

Minister Harichandan discussed with Chief Administrative Secretary Sushil Kumar Lohani and Commissioner Narsingh Bhol about the recent alcohol incident in Ganjam Chikiti and asked for details in this regard. Illegal liquor trade is never acceptable in the state. Therefore, the minister has ordered to keep a close eye on this incident in all areas of the state and crack down on illegal liquor distilleries and selling places. Along with this, the minister has also ordered to provide special medical assistance to those who are hospitalized due to illness. All those undergoing treatment are said to be doing well.

On the other hand 8 people have been arrested in the case of illegal liquor trade in Chikiti. On the other hand, 7,274 liters of illegal liquor has been seized and 117 people have been arrested by the excise department in various parts of the state.
