Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have apprehended Basanta Kumar Mahapatra, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Boudh, in connection with a case involving disproportionate assets (DA). The arrest comes following the seizure of unaccounted properties valued at Rs 19 crore from Mahapatra’s possession.
The seized assets comprise flats estimated at Rs 14.50 crore located across various areas in Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam districts. Additionally, jewellery, vehicles, and movable properties worth Rs 4.50 crore were also confiscated by the authorities.
The Vigilance sleuths executed simultaneous house searches at properties associated with Mahapatra and his family members. These searches were carried out at 10 different locations spread across Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam, further deepening the investigation into the matter.
As the probe unfolds, additional details regarding the case are anticipated to emerge. The investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets is ongoing, with authorities committed to uncovering any further irregularities and ensuring appropriate legal action is taken.
