Bhubaneswar: Senior politician or ex-MLA Ramamurthy Gamango have been heard the life imprisonment for his wife murder case. Orissa High Court has upheld the decision of the lower court on ex-Gunupur MLA Ramamurthy Gamanga. The ex-Gunupur MLA had been awarded life imprisonment by a court in Bhubaneswar.
Former MLA Ramamurthy, was given a lifer by the Court after it was proved that he had murdered his wife Sashirekha Gamango in the year 1995.
Reports say that, a Bhubaneswar Special Court had sentenced the former Gunupur MLA Ramamurthy Gamango to life imprisonment.
The Special Court in Bhubaneswar convicted Ramamurthy Gumango on the basis of the statements of 11 witnesses and 15 documents and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Last year, Ramamurthy had moved the Orissa High Court challenging the sentence passed by the Special MP-MLA court in Bhubaneswar. However, he was disappointed as the court upheld the verdict of the lower court on Wednesday.
According to a complaint filed in 1995, Shasirekha, wife of Ramamurthy Gamango, died suspiciously on August 29, 1995. Shasirekha’s charred body was recovered from Ramamurthy’s government house in MLA Colony in Kharvela Nagar.
