Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped Talagarh village in Cuttack district, Odisha, as locals resorted to violence, torching properties belonging to individuals accused of causing the death of a youth by running a tractor over him. The deceased, identified as Sushant Rana from Radhakrushnapur village near Athagarh, succumbed to his injuries after being critically injured in the incident.
According to sources, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night, leading to outrage among family members and villagers. The enraged crowd set fire to properties owned by the accused, which included a poultry farm, a tractor, a car, and two motorcycles. Furthermore, they obstructed firefighters from entering the village to extinguish the blaze, exacerbating the situation.
In response to the escalating tensions, the police have detained three individuals for questioning. Additionally, a platoon of security forces has been deployed in the area to maintain order and prevent further outbreaks of violence.
