Jharsuguda: Tragedy struck on Sunday morning near Janiena village in Jharsuguda district, as a collision between a coal-laden truck and a passenger-laden pick-up van resulted in a devastating loss of life. The incident, occurring on NH-49 under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur police station, claimed the lives of four individuals, with two more succumbing to injuries at the hospital. Additionally, nine others involved in the collision are currently receiving medical treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
Reports indicate that the collision transpired when a coal-laden truck collided with the pick-up van carrying 13 passengers. The van, traveling from the Lakhanpur side, was struck by the truck traveling in the opposite direction on National Highway 49. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives at the scene of the collision, while two others passed away at the Lakhanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) due to severe injuries sustained in the accident. The remaining passengers were promptly transferred to the district headquarters hospital for further medical attention.
