Bhojpuri Singer Breaks Down On Stage After Anchor Snatches Mic, Viral Video Agitates Netizens

Bhojpuri singer Priyanka Singh, who has crooned ‘Chhalakata Hamro Jawaniya Ye Raja’ in collaboration with musician and actor Pawan Singh,  broke down after she was interrupted mid-way during a live performance by the anchor Rupam Trivikram at the ‘Thawe Mahotsav 2023’ in Bihar.

The now-viral video was shared on Twitter by a page called Ghar Ke Kalesh. In the clip, Priyanka Singh can be seen performing on stage when she was rudely interrupted by Rupam Trivikram. She even asked for two minutes to speak when she was stopped and Rupam went ahead and called the district administrator on stage.

Seconds later, another singer named Pawan Singh told Priyanka to leave the stage. However, Priyanka refused. Instead, she took the microphone and said, “You are not doing good with me.” She added, “An artist cannot be disrespected like this. I am not dying to sing. I have had the worst experience.” The singer was filmed crying on stage.

The clip soon caught the attention of the netizens. In fact, actress Akshara Singh also lent support to the singer on Twitter. “These people (organisers) have forgotten that every stage has a decorum to maintain. They are making a spectacle of their influence and power to insult an artist, that to a woman.”

“This is truly an unacceptable behaviour… this monster anchor and the one who ordered her should he punished.. Insulting an artist in such a way is completely wrong..,” echoed another user.

The incident has left people enraged, leaving many to condemn government authorities for allowing such mistreatment of local artists on stage. A report by TOI suggests DM Dr Naval Kishore Chaudhary personally met Priyanka Singh after the incident to persuade her.
