Two of the three youths who allegedly assaulted Lloyd Nehemiah, 54, causing his death two days later, are sons of the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Bhubaneswar State Crime Records Bureau, Keshab Kumar Samantray, HAL police probing the matter said..
As per reports, Anirudh Samantray (28), son of Keshab Kumar Samantray, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at State Crime Records Bureau in Bhubaneswar, had gone to attend a family function of his elder brother Basudev Samantray (34) in Bangaluru on the day.
Anurudh is an advocate working in an MNC in Delhi while Basudev is a project manager in a construction firm in Bengaluru. The three accused were produced before a court in Bengaluru yesterday, sources added.
According to police sources, the incident took place when the accused trio was playing loud music in a car in the wee hours of April 2. The victim had objected to it. It is alleged that the trio had attacked and lethally injured the victim.
Odisha police DSP Keshab Kumar Samantray, however, claimed that a false narrative was being spread about his sons. A counter-complaint was also filed in HAL police station in Bengaluru, said the Odisha police DSP.
The police arrested Basudev and Abhisek on Thursday and produced them in court which sent them to police custody for 5 days. The police have arrested Anirudh in New Delhi and would produce him court on Friday.
Meanwhile, DSP Samantray has refuted the allegations against his sons. He claimed that a false narrative was being spread about them.
“It was LIoyd who started the fight over the issue of loud music saying that his mother was critically ill. He also abused Anirudh and attacked my two sons. A counter-complaint has been filed in HAL police station in Bengaluru. LIoyd’s death had nothing to do with the incident,” TOI quoted the DSP as saying.
