Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF), Bhubaneswar, under the directive of a high-level drug disposal committee led by JN Pankaj, destroyed a large quantity of contraband drugs and marijuana in the presence of officials from the State Forensic Science Laboratory and the State Pollution Board on Friday.
According to an official statement from the STF, 1,042 grams of brown sugar and 5,257 kg of marijuana were disposed of at a designated incinerator, Sani Clean Pvt. Ltd. at Tangiapada in Khordha district, following proper procedures. The drugs were first certified by the court and handed over to the Drug Disposal Committee for destruction.
To date, the STF has destroyed 25.538 kg of brown sugar in 21 cases and 115.97 quintals of marijuana in 14 cases, including Friday’s destruction. Similarly, the Odisha Police have disposed of 870 quintals of marijuana in 323 cases and 30.600 kg of brown sugar in 41 cases.
