Self Goal By TDP MPs In Parliament, Odisha ‘Manufactured’ Zero Farmers’ Suicides , Report

Farmer suicides in India refers to the national catastrophe of farmers committing  suicide since the 1970s, due to their inability to repay loans mostly taken from private landlords and banks.

As a testimony to the Parliament, the Telugu Desam Party MPs scored a self-goal. He tried to defame the YSRCP government with the issue of farmer suicides. YSR Congress Parliamentary Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy gave this information through a tweet on Wednesday

Mentioned and troubled the suicides of all the farmers. There has been a 25% reduction in farmer suicides since 2019 due to welfare schemes under the YS Jagan government. Vijaysai Reddy disclosed the actual matter through a tweet including the calculations, saying that the matter was announced in the report of the Union Agriculture Department.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar gave a written reply to a question asked by TDP MP Keshineni Nani in the Lok Sabha. It is also clear from that answer that after YS Jagan came to power, there has been a decrease in farmers’ suicides due to various schemes.

As per as that, Odisha reported zero suicides of farmers or cultivators and agricultural labourers during 2019, said a report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)’s report on ‘Crime in India-2019’.

Many states and union territories have reported nil data on suicides by farmers, cultivators and farm labourers. West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Goa, Tripura, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry reported zero suicides of farmers or cultivators and agricultural labourers during 2019 to 2021, said the report.
