Balasore: A teacher was convicted by a special POCSO court in Balasore on Monday for raping a minor girl student.
Hearing a POCSO case, judge Ranjan Kumar Sutar fined the convicted teacher Basant Das (59) with Rs 5,000, failing which he will serve additional two years in jail.
The POCSO court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 4 lakh monetary assistance to the victim’s family.
According to police chargesheet, Basant Das, a resident of the Rampur area in the Balasore district, had lured a minor girl through chocolates and raped her at his residence under Simulia police limits in 2019.
