Primary Teachers & Police Set For Face-Off On Bhubaneswar Streets Today
The Commissionerate Police have denied permission to the agitating Odisha Primary Teachers’ Association to stage a dharna at the Lower PMG in the capital city on Wednesday on the ground that it would lead to traffic congestion during the ongoing Matric examination.
The letter read, “as the Matric examination is currently going on in the State, any kind of dharna and strike will only intensify the traffic congestion in the Capital City. Hence, permission is not granted for the strike,”
On the other hand, the federation has termed the denial unfortunate.
It is pertinent to mention that more than 1.5 lakh teachers under the banner of the United Primary Teachers Federation from across the State have planned to stage a dharna at the Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday to press for their 3-point charter of demands.
