Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to former Odisha chief minister Biju Patnaik on his birth anniversary.
His son Naveen Patnaik founded the Biju Janata Dal following his death in 1997 and has been the state’s chief minister since 2000.
Paying tributes, Modi tweeted, “On his birth anniversary, I pay homage to Biju Babu, a remarkable leader and institution builder. He was a dynamic and multifaceted personality who has made an unparalleled contribution towards Odisha’s progress. His role in fighting the Emergency is also notable.”
