Odisha: Tribal woman sold her 8 months girl to a couple for Rs.800
Bhubaneswar, July 4: A tribal woman under Khunta Police station limit in Odisha’s Mayurbhanja district has sold her eight month old girl child to an issue less couple due to poverty.
Karami Murmu told media persons on Monday that she had recently sold her second girl child to a couple of Bipracharanpur village for Rs 800 recently as she finds it difficult to raise her .
Karami sold the girl child to one Phulamani Marandi and her husband Akhil Marandi without the knowledge of her husband Musu who works in Tamil Nadu .
Mushu who recently came to his village and when inquired about her second daughter, Karami lied him staring that she had died.
Not convinced with her wife’s statement Musu lodged a complaint with the Police
Police inquired into the incident and arrested four people, — Karami, the mediator who made the deal and the couple who bought the girl child.
The couple who bought the girl child said they bought the child as they have no issue.
