Odisha Train Accident: 5 Trains Cancelled For Today, One Diverted
Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) informed on Wednesday that five more trains are cancelled for the day and one train is being diverted due to the three-train crash at Bahanaga Bazar station in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2. Some trains are also being cancelled due to a lack of rakes.
The trains that have been cancelled on Wednesday include the following:
- 18410 – Puri-Shalimar Sri Jagannath Express
- 12882 – Puri-Shalimar Garib Rath
- 22606 – Purulia Express
- 12840 – MGR Chennai Central-Howrah Mail
- 12868 – Puducherry-Howrah Weekly Superfast Express
In addition, the ECoR informed that the route of train No. 20831 – Mahima Gosain Express has been diverted.
Meanwhile, South-Eastern Railways CPRO Aditya Kumar Choudhary told the media today that while the movement of trains has been near normalised in the down route from Bhubaneswar, repair work is underway in the up route. “Repair and maintenance work is in full swing and movement of trains on this route will be restored very soon,” he said.
In response to a question, Choudhary said that so far the Indian Railways have disbursed compensation worth Rs 19.26 crore in 688 cases related to the three-train accident near Bahanaga Bazar railway station which claimed 288 lives and injured over 1,100 passengers on June 9.
