Odisha: Paneer, Chhena To Become Costlier From May 1
Bhubaneswar: The price of various dairy products including paneer, cottage cheese and ‘khoa’ will go up in Odisha’s Cuttack from May 1. The Cuttack district dairy product traders Association informed that the decision to hike the price of dairy products has been taken after OMFED increased the price of milk.
From May 1, the price of cheese, paneer, and khoa is going to increase by Rs 20 to 30 per kg. Presently, paneer is available at Rs 225 per kg. It will be sold at Rs 255 with a hike of Rs 30 per kg. Similarly, cheese is sold at Rs 175, while it will increase by Rs 20.
General secretary of the association Pradip Behera said besides the rise in price rise effected by Omfed, the costs of other inputs have gone up. “Normally 1 kg of paneer is produced from 5 litre of milk. The costs of fuelwood and LPG have also gone up. These factors have forced us to increase the prices of milk products. We have informed all the milk traders in the district in this regard,” he said.
It may be noted that the Omfed had hiked the milk prices citing the demand of the milk farmers and rise in costs of fodder, medicine and fuel.
