Odisha: Goods Train Wagons Detach from Engine at Kalahandi’s Kesinga
Kesinga: Another major railway accident was averted in Odisha on Thursday when several wagons of a goods train delinked from the engine at Kesinga railway station in Odisha’s Kalahandi district and ran for about 30 meters.
According to the sources, several wagons of the goods train carrying aluminum got separated from the middle when the train was crossing the station. The loco pilots noticed the detachment of the wagons and immediately halted the train. Later, the wagons were attached. The train was en route to Angul from Damanjodi.
The loco pilot of the goods train could sense the detachment of wagons and immediately stopped the train. Getting information about it, concerned railway officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Soon, a team of experts from the Railways arrived at the spot and started restoration work.
It is worth mentioning here that a horrific train accident involving Coromandel Express, SMVP-Howrah Superfast Express, and a goods train at Bahanaga in Balasore on June 2 claimed at least 289 lives and left hundreds injured.
