Odisha Assembly adjourned till 4pm today; over matric paper leak

The Odisha Assembly proceedings were adjourned till 4pm today following uproar in the House over the issue of Matric question paper leak.

Minutes after the House assembled for the day’s business this morning, BJP and Congress MLAs shouted slogans against the government over the alleged question paper leak as the matter had become viral on social media and demanded a probe into the issue.

Following this, the Speaker adjourned the House till 4 pm.

School and mass education minister Samir Dash clarified that there was no leak. “There has been no such incident of question paper leak or the paper going viral. There was a printing mistake in the question paper today. However, students need not worry as their interests will be kept in mind during evaluation,” Dash assured.

The Minister further clarified that the matter relating to the leak of papers in Puri district on Monday is yet to be brought to the notice of the Board or the Department. He also said that the opposition is creating the ruckus because they want to avoid certain questions during the ‘Question Hour’ of the Odisha Assembly.

On the other hand, BJP leader and Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi said that the minister’s statement was false. Manjhi demanded the resignation of Das for alleged mismanagement in conducting the matric examinations.
