Nuapada DFO Office’s Senior Assistant Sanjaya Bag Caught Taking Rs 20K Bribe

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Sanjaya Kumar Bag, Senior Assistant in the DFO Territorial office in Khariar Forest Division of Odisha’s Nuapada district for demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.

He had allegedly sought the illegal gratification to process the pension paper documents and facilitate release of retirement benefits in favour of the complainant’s sister, who voluntarily retired in 2022. The entire bribe money was seized from his possession, an official release said.

After receiving the complaint, Vigilance sleuths set up a trap to nab the accused red-handed. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations related to Bag from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.

A case (No.16 dated 30.05.2023) has been registered with the Koraput Vigilance police station in this connection under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. An investigation is in progress against the accused Bag and detailed reports are awaited.
